2009, Cairo, Egypt. Khalid films the soul of his city and its inhabitants. Their faces and their hopes. When the city flares up, in the premises of a revolution, the images become its fight. The images of Cairo, but also those of Beirut, Baghdad and Berlin, sent him by these friends. It musts find the strength to continue to live the painful beauty of the « last days of a city ».

A documentary installation (Video, photography, sound) in our exhibition space.

A Familiar Place is the story of a man (Titi), Jewish Egyptian, a communist; as he looks back on his life. The exhibition confront his memories as an aging political activist and the collective present of a stolen revolution. The installation creates a path from present to past through a structure where the observer is invited to experience Titi’s appartment and balcony.
