A haven for independent film, GALERIES now offers a wide range of uncompromising exhibitions dedicated to art cinema as well as contemporary art. Many contemporary artists such as Eric Baudelaire, Henri Foucalt, Etienne Mineur and Pierre Huygue have already presented their work, always in relation to cinema.

In 2013 GALERIES strenghtens its ambitious and diversified program with a new ambition: to develop the arts through exhibitions in parallel with its cinematic program. Two to three large exhibitions in relation to great contemporary filmmakers are proposed each year in the exhibition space of 1000m2. Overlooked by Dominique Paini, these exhibitons allow us to interrogate cinema as an object taken out of the context of the projection room, as well as to discover the artistic practices of these filmmakers outside of their main craft.

The exhibitons are always sychronized to the rhythm of GALERIES, which is to say a large retrospective of the work of the filmmakers each season. Conferences, debates and meetings will be organized to complete and enrich the program. GALERIES also proposes an EDUCATION program destined towards schools who wish to discover the exhibitions.
A relatively new concept in Brussels, GALERIES’ ambition is to offer to the belgian and international public all the aspects of the work of some of the greatest contemporary filmmakers.
